60-Minute Zoom Workshop on Selecting Freestyle Music
Ever noticed when watching a freestyle how the “right” music selection can transform a performance into magic, but struggling to pick music of your own? You’re not alone. With endless options, many riders get stuck before they even begin. This workshop provides participants with better clarity, more confidence, and the tools to select the perfect soundtrack for their dance with their horse.
Before Workshop: You’ll receive a Musical Selection Inventory to complete ahead of time to help you:
• Reflect on your story and your horse’s personality
• Identify musical styles that express your partnership
• Arrive ready to share and refine ideas
During the Workshop: we will cover…
• How to choose music that celebrates your partnership and story
• Brainstorming session on what constitutes a “GOOD” freestyle song
• Essentials of tempo, BPMs, transitions, and phrasing
• Music Do’s & Don’ts for riders at every level
• What judges are truly listening for
• How to avoid common creative pitfalls (yes—Parkinson’s Law!)

Boulder Valley Dressage (BVD) is a chapter of the Rocky Mountain Dressage Society (RMDS). Our goal is to promote and encourage a high standard of accomplishment in dressage through clinics, seminars, forums, local shows, and to cooperate with other local, regional and national organizations in supporting the principals of dressage for both horses and riders.
Boulder Valley Dressage (BVD) organized nearly 40 years ago is a chapter of the Rocky Mountain Dressage Society (RMDS). RMDS is part of USDF Region 5. Our members include beginners as well as accomplished Grand Prix level equestrians. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join the club and participate in activities. If you join Rocky Mountain Dressage Society (RMDS) you will automatically become a chapter member of your choice.
